According to the Chairperson of the event organizer, Widawati, SP., MHSc., MSSc., This activity is expected to be able to broaden the knowledge of nutrition, especially the methods of analyzing food nutrients for students and alumni of UP Nutrition Study Program. As the only Bachelor of Nutrition Study Program in Riau Province, UP Nutrition students and alumni are also required to have a soul of competence to be able to compete in the world of work, especially in the fields of food and nutrition.

Nutrition Expert, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurul Huda, said that the food and drinks we consume contain water (moisture), ash, protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. He also explained the nutrient content and the right analysis for food, the correct way of food processing, common mistakes in preparation for food processing and storage. This is interesting and important information for students and alumni of nutrition in this public lecture.

“At present food and drinks are not only a basic human need, but rather a life style. How do people prefer fast food over traditional food, how do people prefer Starbuck coffee over regular coffee. Surely this is a challenge for nutritionists themselves “. said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurul Huda.

Wan Fazira, S.Gz., Nutrition UP alumni, gained a lot of knowledge from this public lecture. For example true washing information for food sources of animal protein, differences in protein content in young and old animals. Washing too long in food sources of animal protein will reduce protein content by up to 20%.

Widawati SP., MHSc., MSSc., Believes that the public lecture with nutrition experts, in addition to increasing the scientific insight of students and alumni of Nutrition UP, will encourage students and alumni to continue studying again.
